The Mysterious Fiona is the second episode of the Zoids: Chaotic Century anime series. In this episode, Van brings Zeke and Fiona home, and must rescue his sister from the Desert Arcobaleno Gang.

Plot Summary

Picking up immediately where the previous episode left off, Blu, Nero and Bianco have returned to their base of operations where they are being chewed out by Viola, a fellow member of the Desert Arcobaleno gang.

Notes

• This episode features a few minor edits from the original Japanese version. Scenes of Verde whipping Maria were cut, as was a brief scene where the old woman who lectures Van brings food to him and Fiona. Cutting the scene creates a small continuity error; Van can be seen eating the food the woman brought him in the scene where he and Fiona are running to the Shield Liger.
• Arcobaleno is an Italian word for "Rainbow". Correspondingly, the gang members are all named after Italian words for various colours; Rosso = Red, Viola = Purple, etc.
• Viola mispronounces Arcobaleno as "Alcavaleno." This is a classic example of Engrish: in Japanese speech, "R" and "B" make the same sound as "L" and "V". Names of the various gang members are similarly mangled in the Italian to Japanese to English transition; Blu is "Bull", Verde is "Welde" and Giallo is "Jarro".
• During his lecture, the Priest mentions that Van is 17 years old. This is a mistake by the writers for the english dub; Van is 17 years old at the beginning of Guardian Force, whereas at the beginning of Chaotic Century he is 14 years old. The writers appear to have noticed this mistake and run with it, as the period of time between Chaotic Century and Guardian Force is correspondingly shorter in the dub (approximately one year, making him 18 at the beginning of Guardian Force in the dub.) As the events of Guardian Force take place over the course of a little over a year, Van is 19 years old by the end of the series (and 18 years old in the original Japanese version.)
• Zeke is established to have healing powers in this episode, which it never uses again until episode 33. There are a ton of incidents (many of them more dangerous than this one) where this ability to regenerate Zoids would have come in extremely handy, but no explaination is ever given for why Zeke can't do this all the time.
