Zoid Cores are an anatomical feature common to all Zoids.

Overview

Biomechanical in nature, Zoid Cores are portrayed across the various continuities as the source of a Zoid's power. It is the Zoid's true form, with its body amounting to little more than a fancy mobile shell designed to house it. While a Zoid's chassis is effectively expendable and can simply be repaired, the core is vital. Damage to the core can be fatal and cause the Zoid to permanantly cease functioning (an exception to this was the Murasame Liger, whose core has the ability to regenerate.) The raw power of a Zoid is determined by the quality and output of its Zoid Core. Simply improving a Zoid's chassis or giving it more weapons will not make it more powerful and can even cause excessive strain to the core. Certain Zoids have stronger cores than others, but supporting technology (such as the Organoid System, Organoids and Black Boxes) can be used to enhance the core's abilities. Zoid cores can reproduce by dividing like single-celled organisms. The new core is then laid by the parent and grows into a new Zoid.

In most cases, a Zoid possesses a single core, but sometimes a Zoid can have multiple cores: Raven's Geno Saurer had nine Zoid cores in order to survive merging with Shadow. A Fuzor can have two or more cores as the result of two or more Zoids combining to become one. Blox-type Zoids have Artificial Zoid Cores, which are easier to mass produce then the standard type.
