Tomy is the company responsible for making the original Zoids models, as well as for writing some of the battle story (though most was written by Shogakukan). They merged with their rival Takara on March 1, 2006, forming Takara-Tomy.
Zoids were also once distributed by Hasbro in the United States and Canada, Tomy UK in the UK, and are currently distributed by Academy in Korea.
Kotobukiya currently manufactures the High-End Master Model line, though a number of their boxes feature Takara-Tomy logos as well.
