The Gojulas is a Tyrannosaurus-type Zoid. Due to its widespread appearances in a plethora of tie-in media, the Gojulas is one of the most iconic Zoids. It was effectively the franchise's mascot during the 1980s, a role that would be passed on to the Liger Zero during the series' revival in the new millennium.

Overview

The Gojulas is a Godzilla-type Zoid in every respect but its official designation; ostensibly, it is a Tyrannosaurus-type Zoid. The Godzilla film franchise had seen a revival after a decade-long hiatus just a year before the Gojulas' release, with media hype and fanfare to match. Its design leans far more towards the King of the Monsters than the Tyrant Lizard King, with a fully erect posture, plantigrade feet, robust forelimbs and row of fins along its back. The name "Gojulas" is clearly derived from "Gojira", the monster's Japanese name. It even has an iconic rivalry with a gorilla named "Kong."

Loaded with the most cutting-edge technology available at the time, the Gojulas was indisputably the largest and most powerful Zoid on Planet Zi. No Zoid dared face it on its own terms. Any that attempted to engage it at long range was dismantled by the Gojulas' devastating array of firepower; those who faced it up close were crushed by its awesome brute strength. With its heavy armour, it could whether any assault. Its only weakness is its relative lack of speed, though it's certainly no slouch for a Zoid its size. While even more powerful Zoids have come and gone since then, the Gojulas remains a terrifying foe and sets the standard for other Zoids that may lay claim to the title of "strongest" to be measured against.
