Fan art is artwork created by the fans of a franchise, be it a movie, TV show, cartoon, video game, etc.

Overview

Much like fanfiction, fan art is a form of creative expression that fans produce as a tribute to works of fiction they enjoy. There are many sites that display Zoids fan art, notably Pixiv and Deviant Art. The range and quality of subjects depicted in fan art can vary considerably, from relatively benign to extremely graphic smut. Zoids fans may depict canon characters and Zoids in their artwork, or invent their own fan-made characters, Zoids, Organoids, etc. The sharing of unattributed high quality Japanese fan art has lead to the creation of fanon, such as the Glow Fox. Fan artists of exceptional skill, such as Anomaro Kintarou, have found their way into working on official projects.
