Deadborder (1980s, Japan, Tomy)
Model type: Battery-op

Overview

Deadborder is identified as a Tarbosaurus, a relative of the T. rex that lived in Mongolia during the Late Cretaceous. It is nearly as large as its North American counterpart, and some scientists have hypothesised that it was a different species of the same genus. Tarbosaurus fossils are well documented, and include juvinile specimens and even scaly skin impressions from the feet and thoracic region.

Though sluggish, the Deadborder is heavily armoured, and armed with a pair of Gravity Cannons as its main weapons, which fire energy beams capable of imploding enemy Zoids. Its unique engine utilizes a rare and unusual mineral called deochalcum as its energy source, making it exceptionally powerful. Its weakness are the thick tubes coming out of its body; if they are cut, it cannot power its weapons.
