Bio Zoids are a special type of Zoid featured in Zoids Genesis and Zoids Generations.

Overview

Bio Zoids are a unique type of Zoid used exclusively by the Digardo Empire. Though most Zoids are techno-organic in nature, Bio Zoids take this concept a step further. Bio Zoids are powered by the life force of their pilot, who wear a special suits designed for this purpose; alternately, they are piloted by mechanical drones who are powered by human souls. Bio Zoids have a necromechanical aesthetic, with their armour taking on a skeletal motif that frames the body but offers little coverage, giving them an emaciated, undead appearence. This design flaw would eventually be taken advantage of by the Digardo suppression army, who would target the unarmoured portions of the Bio Zoids' chassis. They never carry external weaponry (with only the Bio-Volcano having more than a single ranged weapon), and are designed mainly for close range combat.

Bio Zoids are covered in Hell Armour, which is constructed of a mysterious and highly durable substance, which begins in a molten liquid form that is injection-moulded in a factory. Bio Zoids sometimes appear to be completely indestructable, and it is repeatedly stated that Hell Armour is immune to everything except for weapons constructed of the Metal Zi alloy, such as the Murasame Liger's sword. However, these statements would later be proven to be mere hyperbole; on numerous occasions Bio Zoids have been destroyed by things other than Metal Zi, from being wiped out by the beam cannons of the Decalto Dragon and the Brastle Tiger, to things as mundane as being slammed against a cliff or crushed by falling rocks.

Bio Zoids, with the exception of the Bio Ptera, are dinosaur types, though they are all based on prehistoric reptiles. Most of them are based on Dromeosaurs, AKA: "raptors".

Bio Zoid Types

In the world of Zoids: Genesis, traditional dinosaur-type Zoids do not appear to exist. Each type of Bio Zoid fills a narrative role that roughly corresponds to dinosaur-type Zoids seen in previous media.

Model Kits

The Bio Zoid models differ from traditional Zoids in a number of ways. Like many of the new Genesis designs, they come mostly pre-built, requiring merely to have the armour assembled. In addition, they are non-motorized, but feature a high degree of articulation.
