The Black Organoid is the twelfth episode of the Zoids: Chaotic Century anime series. In this episode, Van meets Raven, a teenage boy with an Organoid of his own, who fights on the side of the Empire.

Notes

• Raven's recurring habit of pointlessly murdering his opponents is on display for the first time in this episode. In real life military conflict, it is irrelivant whether or not the crew of an enemy vehicle survives; the gunner's objective is simply to disable the machine. Opening fire with his Saber Tiger's weapons, Raven kills two Republican soldiers by blowing up their Zoids' cockpits, despite showing the skill to disable enemy Zoids without resorting to killing their pilots. This blatantly evil, bloodthirsty act starkly contrasts with his portrayal in the manga, where Raven is only interested in killing Zoids and spares their pilot's lives if he can; this may have been a decision on the anime writers' part to make Raven more villainous, though it makes his eventual redemption that much harder to swallow.
