Battle Story
The Battle Story is the first and longest-running work of fiction in the Zoids franchise. Unlike the various anime and manga, the Battle Story is an anthology series told through multiple viewpoints with different characters, with the story spread out across various supporting media such as fanbooks, toy catalogues and model kit packaging. Aside from some backstory included in the Zoids: Chaotic Century Manga, the Battle Story has never been officially translated into english.

Response
In the Japanese Zoids fanbase, the Battle Story is beloved and well-known as the series' longest-running work of fiction, with a fandom almost comparable to that of the anime. However, among the english-speaking fanbase it's rather obscure due to its lower accessability than the anime, which was translated and extensively marketed, compared to the Battle Story, which got nothing beyond a footnote in the Chaotic Century manga. Early on, the Battle Story had a reputation in the English-speaking fanbase as a "sandbox universe" that consisted merely of stats and vague, faux-historical documents written on boxes that most of us couldn't read or threw away. At one point, being a Battle Story fan was a way to show off your nerd cred, though now that Zoids RPGs have fallen out of vogue and stats are widespread and available on wikis such as this one, this is no longer the case.
