Caesar is a Zoid featured in the Zoids: Chaotic Century manga by Michiro Ueyama.
Overview
Caesar is the name given to Van's Liger. Beginning its life as a Shield Liger previously piloted by Moonbay's brother, Jadow, over the course of the series it metamorphoses into a Blade Liger and has its core transferred into the chassis of a prototype Liger Zero. Caesar is shown to have had a deep bond with its former pilot, having dutifully followed his request to protect the Shadow Key, even after his death. It built a grave for Jadow and stood guard over him, and endlessly pursued anybody who dared to steal the key. It expressed gratitude towards Van when he was able to return the key to it. After sustaining fatal damage, it opened its heart to Van when he shed tears of empathy for it. It soon developed a bond with him as deep as the bond it had with Jadow.
As a Shield Liger, it had the physical strength to hurl a Red Horn with ease, and was so agile it could evade a shot fired from an Imperial Linear Railgun. Its shield was resilient enough to enable it to hold its own against the Geno Saurer, forcing Raven to resort to using his charged particle cannon. Though armed with a shock cannon and missile pods, Caesar never used them, preferring to attack opponents in close combat; this trend would continue through Caesar's later forms, to the point where it equipped no ranged weapons at all as a Liger Zero.
After metamorphosing into a Blade Liger, Caesar became faster and stronger than it was before. It was armed with a pair of laser blades that were able to easily slice through an enemy Zoid, and could run at incredible speed using the boosters on its back. It could concentrate its shield energy into its blades, allowing it to throw Zoids vast distances in order to attack an opponent without hurting it. It could also project its shield underneath it to allow it to "surf" on top of the water.
When its core was transferred into a prototype Liger Zero, its abilities improved yet again. After shedding its armour, Caesar was able to unleash its full speed and power, taking apart the Death Stinger with its Strike Laser Claw and moving too fast for it to track. Eventually, Melissa Sue would design a custom CAS for Van; Liger Zero Ceasar the King, as it came to be known, weilded a pair of highly mobile, wing-like laser blades as its primary weapons, and was able to dominate the Berserk Fury Shadow Edge. Liger Zero Caesar had armour stylised in a manner resembling Zeke, much as the BFSE was based on Shadow.
