Fanon is a portmanteau of "fan" and "canon"; that is, fanmade takes on what might be true which cannot be officially confirmed, but are popular enough in fandom to have a following as explanation or fact.
Examples of fanon within the Zoids fandom include:
- The Descendant Theory
- Fan-made Zoids mistaken for official, such as the Glow Fox
- Fan assumptions about Zoid capabilities, such as the Dark Spiner's infamous Charged Particle Cannon
- Fan-invented names and terms being used in lieu of official names, such as "Geno Breaker Psychosis", "Giga Gojulas", "Pierce Sniper", "Liger Zero Hailstorm", and "Crystal Saurer", "Super Charged Particle Cannon", "Frontal Force Shield", etc.
