The '''Strike Laser Claw''' (commonly abbreviated as "SLC") is a weapon equipped by various species of Zoid.

==Overview==

The Strike Laser Claw is shown across the various [[Continuity|continuities]] to be an extremely powerful melee weapon. The premise is similar to that of the earlier [[Laser Blade]] technology; a blazing, golden, plasma-like energy is channeled into the claws of the Zoid, greatly enhancing the power of its claw swipes and enabling it to smash and tear through enemy Zoid armour. Possessing the same raw cutting power as a laser blade, it's also far more efficient. Being built directly into the chassis of the Zoid, rather than bolted onto the exterior, the Strike Laser Claw is less vulnerable to exploitation by the enemy, such as being blocked, deflected or shot off. With the full weight and momentum of the Zoid behind it, the Strike Laser Claw can also inflict more solid, damaging blows. The Strike Laser Claw has a modular attack range with full-contact grappling capabilities, rather than being limited to variations on drive-by slashing. Though it would not render the Laser Blade obsolete, the Strike Laser Claw would prove to be a practical alternative.

In the Battle Story's continuity, Strike Laser Claw technology was invented by the [[Guylos Empire]]. Though the Empire's [[Lightning Saix]] pioneered the technology, the [[Liger Zero]] (also developed by the Empire, but stolen and produced by the [[Helic Republic|Republic]]) made it famous. It proved an effective weapon, and many other Zoids would subsequently include it, such as the Shadow Fox, the Berserk Fury, the Dark Spiner, and the Leoblaze.

===Zoids: Chaotic Century===

In the Chaotic Century manga, when [[Caesar]]'s core was transferred into the chassis of a prototype Liger Zero, it gained the ability to use the Strike Laser Claw. The new attack demonstrated incredible power; Caeser was able to dismember the [[Death Stinger (Chaotic Century Manga)|Death Stinger]] easily, when the laser blades it weilded in its previous Blade Liger form had only been able to inflict superficial scratches to the Stinger's mighty armour.

===Zoids: New Century===

The first Zoid seen to use the Strike Laser Claw in the anime was Bit Cloud's Liger Zero, which used it as its signature attack. It appeared to be unique to the Liger Zero; Bit seemed to have never heard of the weapon before, and Kirkland was dazzled and confused by the vibrant display of the Liger's blazing claws. The Liger would use the Strike Laser Claw to devastating effect, routinely dispatching enemy Zoids with a single swipe, with only Berserk Fury being shown to have the sheer fortitude to withstand sustained pressure from this weapon. It was also shown to be capable of temporarily shorting out the Elephander's [[E-Shield]], though doing so shocked the Liger in the process. The Liger Zero could also use its Strike Laser Claw while equipped with the Jager CAS, though in this form the attack appeared to be less powerful. Doctor Laon would incorporate this technology into his design for the Shadow Fox, which had a Strike Laser Claw equal in power to the Jager's.

The Liger Zero's manga counterpart also had a Strike Laser Claw, using it to finish off Altile's [[Berserk Fury (New Century Manga)|Berserk Fury]].

It was the preferred method of attack by RD's Liger Zero, and Helmut's Command Wolf was upgraded to equip one as well. The Liger Zero Phoenix would use its own variation of the Strike Laser Claw: the Diving Laser Claw. The Liger Zero Phoenix would perform its signature attack by swiping its claw, hurling an enormously powerful wave of plasma energy. The Liger Zero Falcon could also perform the Diving Laser Claw, though it rarely used it.

===Zoids Genesis===

Although a Strike Laser Claw is listed in its official stats, the [[Murasame Liger]] was never shown to use it. The only appearence of the Strike Laser Claw in Genesis was its use by a single Shadow Fox; the Murasame Liger avoided the slash and swiveled its Metal Zi blade into the Fox's path, decapitating it and foiling its attack.
