'''Memory''' is the third episode of the [[Zoids: Chaotic Century (Anime)|Zoids: Chaotic Century]] anime series. In this episode, Van, Fiona and Zeke meet a White Gordos protecting an ancient secret in some ruins, while a mercenary named Irvine tries to steal Zeke.

==Plot Summary==

As the episode begins, Van and Fiona are lost in a sand storm. Van asks Fiona if she's okay, who replies that she's kinda hungry. Van and Fiona soldier on foreward, when suddenly, they run into a black and red Command Wolf. Backing away from it in surprise, Fiona steps into some poorly animated quicksand, and begins to sink. She calls for help and is assisted by the Zoid's pilot, a mysterious man with a mechanical eye patch who gives her a rope and pulls her free.

Some time later, Van and Fiona are sitting with the man, who calls himself Irvine, under his Command Wolf, eating some corn. Van explains that he and Fiona were out looking for food when they got lost in the sand storm. Irvine is surprised to hear that Van owns a Shield Liger, and Van explains further, telling him that Zeke brought it back to life for him. Van asks Irvine what he's doing, and vaguely mumbles that he's "looking for something". The next morning, Van is rudely awakened by a pinch to the cheek from Fiona, who mentions that the guy left without them. Van says they should try to find Zeke and he Shield Liger before someone else does.

Meanwhile, Zeke playfully ambles around in the sun in front of the Shield Liger. Zeke looks up to see Van and Fiona off in the distance. Van and Zeke run towards each other, and Zeke happily ignores Van and runs past him to nuzzle Fiona, to Van's irritation.

Later on, Van, Fiona, Zeke and the Shield Liger are strolling through some mysterious ruins. Far away on a ridge, an ominous shadowy figure watches them, and then stalks away...

Van and Fiona find a hidden fortress. They're about to go inside, when they're suddenly they are attacked by a White Gordos. Van and Fiona dive to the side, barely avoiding getting trampled. Van notices that the Gordos has no pilot, and that its leg is damaged. Van tries to calm the wild Zoid down, but instead it aims its rail cannons at them and opens fire. Van and Fiona run, seeking shelter in a trench. Van tries to run to the Shield Liger, but the Gordos isn't having any of that, once again opening fire; it clearly doesn't want them getting into the fortress. However, the Gordos' shots have uncovered a hidden passage, and Van and Fiona use it to escape.

Van and Fiona make it into the fortress, where Fiona finds an old diary in an abandoned room. As they read it they discover that it belonged to a soldier, the Gordos' former pilot. The diary reveals that he and his unit were forced to abandon the fortress, and had to leave the Gordos behind because of its broken leg. Van remarks that the White Gordos has been faithfully guarding the fortress for 50 years now, and assumes that it's still waiting for its friends to return for it. Suddenly, there's an explosion outside!

Irvine's Command Wolf is attacking the White Gordos. It twirls around and strikes the Command Wolf with its thagomizers, and Irvine wonders how it can still keep up with him with a damaged leg. Van appears in the Shield Liger and tells him to leave it alone, but Irvine ignores him, and charges the Gordos again. They meet in a head-on collision and the Gordos topples over. Zeke fuses with the Shield Liger, and Irvine chooses to retreat rather then risk further damage to his Zoid.

Later on, Van tends to the Gordos' injured leg. He does the best he can without his tools on hand. He returns to the fortress, when Zeke leads him down a hidden stairway. He follows him to an underground chamber, where Fiona is staring at a stone pillar with strange heiroglyphics engraved into its surface. They begin to glow and Fiona clutches her head in agony. She says that the writing says "[[Zoid Eve (Chaotic Century Anime)|Zoid Eve]]", before passing out. When she comes to, Van asks her if she remembers anything else, but she doesn't, although she feels like she's supposed to find something.

Suddenly, a series of explosions go off. Irvine is up on a cliff, firing some kind of big gun. Van rushes outside to tell the Gordos to run, when suddenly Irvine appears on a rock behind Van, holding Fiona hostage, telling him that he'll trade Fiona for his Organoid. Zeke appears out of nowhere to smash the rock Irvine is standing on. They run away, and Irvine chases after them, firing his big gun at them. A shot from Irvine's gun knocks some rubble loose, burying Van. Zeke and Fiona retreat into the underground passageway.

Meanwhile, the Gordos lumbers over to Van and digs him out of the rubble. Fiona and Zeke come out of the other end of the tunnel, only to be greeted by Irvine and his Command Wolf. It looks like it's all over, when Van's Shield Liger rams into the Command Wolf. Zeke fuses with the Shield Liger again, and Van and Irvine duke it out.

The Command Wolf and the Shield Liger charge, and a feirce melee battle ensues. Irvine opens fire at near point-blank, catching Van off guard and shooting the Shield Liger down. He prepares to finish it off, when the Gordos jumps in the way, using its body to protect the Liger. It roars defiantly at the Command Wolf, and Irvine wisely decides to retreat again rather then fight two Zoids at once.

The Gordos turns around and starts to limp back towards the fortress. Van tells the Gordos that the war ended a long time ago, and that it's free now, but instead it ignores him and speeds up, running away from him. Van stops, and Fiona asks him why he doesn't follow the Gordos. Van replies that it's pointless, and that the Gordos wants to stay at the fortress and wait for its friends to return, even if it takes 100 years.
