==Plot Summary==

The Blitz team celebrate with a victory feast after winning yet another Zoid Battle. They've been on a winning streak and gotten very arrogant and complacent, particularly Bit. While they cram their faces and pat themselves on the back for being so awesome, they receive a message from the Zoids Battle Commission: they're obligated to take place in the [[Zoid Trials]], an event in which all Zoid Warriors must participate so their stats can be measured and made public. Then then they have a match with the Lightning team, who have recently hired the mercenary Jack Ciso and been dominating the battles in Class A. Brad and Jamie are concerned, but Bit and Leena, blissfully ignorant of the Lightning team's reputation, aren't worried.

The next day at the Zoid trials, Bit and the Liger Zero take their turn on the course. They run through a gauntlet of tight turns, barriers, target shooting and a final dash. Though Bit and the Liger squabble over the details, they clear the course and pass with the highest score. Bit boasts about his score to Brad and Leena, who are ranked 11th and 19th, respectively. Brad and Leena make excuses for their poor showing, and Bit mocks them for it, but then he's bumped down to 6th place when one veteran pilot after another subsequently beat his score. Jack Cisco shows up, and chastises Bit for gloating and behaving unprofessionally. Then he and his teammates, Chris and Kelly Tasker, go through their trials: Jack scores 3rd, Chris scores 4th, and Kelly scores 5th. It appears the Blitz team really have their work cut out for them!

Later, the Blitz team plan for their match against the Lightning team. Since they scored so much higher than them at the trials, they'll need to come up with a good strategy to defeat them. Jamie proposes one such plan, which he calls the "Overtake Strategy". He explains that the Lightning Saix, while fast, are incapable of making tight turns, and their back mounted turrets are unable to rotate, so they'll avoid the first charge and attack from the rear to hit the Lightning Saix in their blind spot. The stratagem is elegant in its simplicity and seems airtight.

Meanwhile, the Lightning team are planning their own battle strategy. They figure the Command Wolf and Gun Sniper should be simple enough to take care of, but the Liger Zero might give them some problems. Jack warns them that the Liger can transform - this is why he lost the first time. He explains that he teamed up with them because of the perfect control they have over their Lightning Saix. Their skills perfectly compliment his own abilities. Jack is eager for some payback. This time the Blitz team won't stand a chance.

* The Doc is clearly drinking beer during the Blitz team's victory feast. This is one of the few instances in the series of alcohol not getting edited out in the dub. 
* Speaking of the victory feast, they spend the bulk of their conversation talking with their mouths full. The Blitz team are ''disgusting!''
* Bit's run in the Zoid trials recycles animation from episode 3.
* The Zoid Trials seem heavily slanted towards high speed Zoids. What happens when someone in a Cannon Tortoise or a Gordos has to participate? 
* The pilots who bump Bit out of first place at the Zoid Trials are Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, Adrian Vandenberg, Andy Timmons and Warren DeMartini. Who knew so many famous guitarists were top-tier Zoid Warriors on the side?
* Jamie's Overtake Strategy hinged on the notion of exploting the inability of the Saix's back mounted turret to pivot, which was a feature it shared in common with the model kit. Eleven years later, Kotobukiya released the HMM Lightning Saix, which ''is'' capable of rotating its turret. Hindsight is a cruel mistress.
* [[Bashing|Certain fans]] seem to miss the ''point'' of this episode, taking the Liger dodging Jack's point-blank shot as "proof" that the Liger does all the work for Bit. If anything, this episode proves the opposite: the Liger repeatedly fails to hit Jack with its Strike Laser Claw, in defiance of Bit's orders. The Liger has superhuman abilities but it needs Bit to use them to its full advantage; when they fight like they normally do, Bit and the Liger can defeat Jack quite easily, as seen in the first and third times they fought.
