The '''Charged Particle Cannon''' (also referred to as the '''"Charged Particle Gun"''' and commonly abbreviated as "CPC") is a superweapon used by several Zoids and considered one of the most powerful weapons on Planet Zi.

==Overview==

The Charged Particle Cannon is a weapon that focuses and hyper-accelerates a stream of electrically charged subatomic particles that are capable of vapourizing almost any target through transfer of enormous kinetic energy. Although weaponised particle beams currently only exist within the realm of fiction, they can occur in nature in the form of lightning bolts, which operate under the same principle.   

CPCs are known for their enormous destructive power, their low rate of fire, and their massive recoil, often facilitating the use of [[footlock]]s for smaller-scale Zoids which equip them. CPCs require a few seconds to be charged before opening fire. CPCs are generally built directly into the chassis of a Zoid, rather than mounted on the exterior, though this isn't necessarily always the case, seen in Zoids such as the [[Gungyalado]]. Classically, the CPC is a weapon used by the [[Zenevas Empire|Zenevas]] and [[Guylos Empire]]s, with the notable exception of the [[King Gojulas]] and [[Gairyuki]].

As a Weapon Of Mass Destruction, few things can survive being shot by a particle beam. Powerful E-Shields, such as those generated by the [[Blade Liger]] and [[Tornado|Stealth Dragon]], are shown to be able to repel them, though they are not always effective. Certain Zoids, such as the Mad Thunder and Gairyuki, are equipped with special technology specifically designed to counter particle weaponry. Zoids with sufficiently heavy armour, such as the [[Moonbay's Gustav|Gustav]], [[Ultrasaurus (Chaotic Century Anime)|Ultrasaurus]] and [[Berserk Fury (New Century Anime)|Berserk Fury]], can also resist being struck by a particle beam.

In [[Zoids: Genesis]], the Bio Volcano and Bio Tyranno were shown to possess a "Bio Particle Cannon". The beam fired by the Bio Particle Cannon has a smoother, more gaseous appearance in contrast to the jagged electrical bolt of the classic particle beam; however, it is shown to deliver its energy to the target in the same way. The Bio Tyranno's particle cannon was unique in its ability to create implosions. Emperor Gene named this attack "God's Lightning" after he decided "Bio Particle Cannon" wasn't dramatic enough.
